KATHMANDU: Four Nepali girls intending to go to the United Arab Emirates via India were arrested in Raxaul yesterday, The Times of India reported today. An anti-trafficking squad in Raxaul found the girls’ activities suspicious and reported to the police. Police arrested human trafficker Ganga Devi and sent the teenage girls to their homes in Nizamgarh of Bara district. According to police, Ganga Devi was taking them to Delhi by Satyagarh Express train on the pretext of facilitating their employment in Gulf countries. Flying out of Delhi is safe but flying out of Kathmandu is difficult due to immigration problems, The Times of India reported quoting one of the rescued girls, Binita. The girls below 16 years had false dates of birth on their passports. India is a major route for Nepali girls going abroad, mainly Gulf countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Everyday, nearly 30-35 Nepali women reach Gulf countries via India.
