KATHMANDU: Senior leader of the CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal has been elected as the new prime minister of the country on Saturday. According to Mukunda Sharma, spokesperson of the Constituent Assembly, UML leader Nepal was declared elected as PM unopposed as no other nomination was filed for the post. Nepal's candidature was proposed by the Nepali Congress and supported by other twenty-one parties representing in the CA. Nepal, 56, has the backing of over 350 members in the 601-seat parliament, more than the simple majority required to be elected. According to sources, President Dr Ram Baran Yadav will administer oath of office and secrecy to Nepal as the second elected PM of the Republic of Nepal tomorrow. The UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Janta Dal and CPN (United) boycotted the election.
