SURKHET: Nepali Congress general secretary Ramchandra Paudel on Friday claimed the present coalition would not topple even if Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF) splits. Talking to mediapersons at Surkhet airport, Paudel said, 'Bijaya Kumar Gachhadar, who heads the MJF parliamentary party, joined the government in the parliamentary committee’s consent. Hopefully, the dispute will end soon.' Asked about NC President Girija Prasad Koirala’s decision to send the party to the government in the leadership of Sujata Koirala, Paudel said, 'It is is acceptable to us.' Stating that the CPN-UML had assisted the NC-led government in the past, he said, 'It is to repay the favour that we backed the UML this time.' 'We should protest the atrocities of the Maoists,' the NC veteran said. He asked the party cadres to stand up to the excesses of the former rebels. He accused the UCPN-Maoist of trying to impose autocracy in the country. Meanwhile, NC acting president Sushil Koirala said, 'The Maoists have not put an end to their anarchic activities yet.' He asked party supporters to fight against totalitarianism but denied to comment on the present political scenario.
