LOS ANGLES: Ryan O'neal and his son Redmond broke down in tears at Farrah Fawcett's funeral, after final letters from the CHARLIE'S ANGELS star were read out during the service. Fawcett's longterm partner Ryan and her 24 year old son were pallbearers, and both gave readings at the emotional ceremony on Tuesday (30Jun09). But it was two letters the actress had penned before her death last week (25Jun09) that most moved her family members to tears. A friend of Fawcett, who died of anal cancer, read out a letter to Ryan, which addressed the ups and downs of their on/off 30-year relationship. The message read, "When I figure out what it is all about, I can tell you." And a letter for Fawcett's troubled son Redmond - who was granted a three-hour release from jail, where he's serving time on drug charges, to attend the funeral - was equally as moving. It said, "The greatest gift of my life was to be your mother. By leaving you behind I hope you will be able to work out all your troubles and grow as a person." Fawcett had also written a piece to tell her 90-year-old father, James, how much she loved him: "You gave me life and you were the greatest dad around." As well as Ryan and Redmond O'Neal's readings during the ceremony, Fawcett's longtime pal Alana Stewart and her doctor Lawrence Piro paid tribute with self-prepared eulogies.
