Naar victims' bodies handed over

GORKHA: The bodies of Gyan Bahadur Gurung (33) and Sobar Gurung (22) Kerauja, Gorkha, who were killed at Naar in Manang, were handed over to their kin on Monday. According to the police, the bodies of the youth were given to kin Pramila Gurung and Kansing Gurung respectively.

The Gorkha District Police Office quoted the Manang police as saying that the duo lost their lives while trying to flee from the locals. Five other youths were beaten to death by Nar locals when they had gone to collect Yarsagumba in Naar on June 10.

The post-mortem of the bodies was carried out in Chame and the final rites were performed as per the Gurung tradition on Monday.

The other five deceased whose bodies are yet to be found, were Bir Bahadur, 18, Kanchha Gurung, 27, Kami Gurung, 18, Dhruba Gurung, 18 and Aitaram Gurung, 18 of Kerauji in Gorkha.

Meanwhile, the Gorkha District Development Committee has decided to provide relief of Rs 25, 000 each to the families of the victims killed in Naar.
