Khambu wins COLOMBO: Nepal had a mixed result during the sixth round of the Continental Asian Junior Chess Championships in Colombo on Sunday. The Nepal woman champion, Monalisa Khambu recorded a win against Sri Lankan unrated opponent Premasiri Bhimasha while the Under-19 champion Nikesh Duwal lost against 2043-rated Malaysian opponent Sumant Subramaniam. With the day’s results, both Khambu and Duwal have 2.5 points. Khambu will face Cooray Sakuni of Sri Lanka while Duwal is up against a Sri Lankan player in the seventh round on Monday. The eight round matches are also scheduled the same day. — HNS Sarbamangal triumph DHULIKHEL: Sarbamangal Higher Secondary School clinched the first President Running Shield after accumulating 10 points here on Sunday. Kathmandu University School won the ladies’ volleyball title while Jana Bikash Secondary School claimed the boys’ section championship. KU School defeated Sanjivani Secondary School in the ladies final while Jana Bikash saw off Devine Light Secondary School in the boys’ final. Sarbamangal also stood first in athletics with 31 points followed by Dugdeshwor Secondary School. In all, 94 schools from Kavre district took part in the tournaments. — HNS Darts body formed KATHMANDU: Nepal Darts Association (NDA) formed their first ever district association in Nuwakot on Sunday. Ramesh Adhikari has been nominated as the president of the newly forme district association, said the NDA Secretary General Dinesh Thapa. Others in the 11-member committee includes Bhuwan Raj Thapa as vice-president, Ram Prasad Thapaliya as secretary, Surendra Raj Sedia as joint secretary, Iswor Adhiakari as treasurer. Among the members are Badri Prasad Adhiakari, Iswor Bahadur Gurung, Harihar Silwal, Sandesh Thapaliya, Ram Kumar Lohani and Binda Adhikari. — HNS
