KATHMANDU: Association of Private Educational Institutions (APEIN), an apex body of seven private institutions’ organisations, has flayed the budget for this fiscal stating that it violated the agreement reached between the Association and the Ministry of Finance. Bhoj Bahadur Shah, president of the Private And Boarding Schools’ Organisation Nepal (PABSON), one of the APEIN members, told The Himalayan Times today that the dissatisfaction was made public after a meeting with the member organisations Thursday. Shah said, “According to the 14-point agreement signed with the Finance Ministry earlier, government had agreed to completely withdraw the provision for five per cent Education Service Tax (EST).” Similarly, a sub-committee under Revenue Consultation Committee had recommended substituting the tax to Rs 150 extra registration charge during the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examination, he added.
