Veteran players feted PALPA: Palpa chapter of the Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) felicitated three former players on Sunday. Ganga Prasad Shrestha, 87, Prakash Uday and Suresh Ligal were honoured for their long-term contribution for the Nepali sports. Minister for Youth and Sports Ganesh Nepali and Member Secretary of National Sports Council Jeevan Ram Shrestha presented them with letters of felicitation. Meanwhile, Bharat Sharma was presented with the best sports journalists' award. On the occasion, NSJF (Palpa) also distributed certificates to the participants of the two-day Sports Journalism Training. NSJF central committee president Niranjan Rajbanshi announced that they would take the Sports Journalism Training to other parts of the county as well. Rajbanshi also credited the NSJF, Palpa as the best chapter. — HNS MMC team champ KATHMANDU: Hosts Multi-Martial Arts Centre (MMC) claimed the team championship of the third MMC Judo and Kendo Championships. MMC won five gold and one silver and bronze medal each to finish first. Bhanubhakta stood second with two gold, three silver and as many bronze medals. Sabin Joshi of Bhanubhakta and Sunita Sunder of MMC were declared the best players. — HNS Team departs KATHMANDU: A three-member Nepali taekwondo team on Sunday left for Seoul, South Korea to participate in the 16th Taekwondo Trainers' Training. Coaches Hira Bahadur Thapa, Hem Lal Shrestha and Jit Singh Lama will undergo the course during July 21 to 25 at the World Taekwondo Federation Headquarters. — HNS Adebayor joins City MANCHESTER: Manchester City on Saturday said they had clinched the 35 million euros signing of Togolese forward Emmanuel Adebayor from Arsenal on a five-year contract. Adebayor, 25, completed his medical test to become the latest big-money new face at City, after the recent captures of midfielder Gareth Barry and strikers Carlos Tevez and Roque Santa Cruz.
