US-based Indian Vir Saran Das, a sensation in the stand up comedy show business, is performing once again for the discerning audience at the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu in association with The Himalayan Times on January 24.
His genre of acting is meant to break all conventional rules and Das has excelled in his performance.
The patrons elegantly attired in the dress code of black, white and silver had a marvellous time on August 29, 2003 at the Banquet Hall. Das has performed lead roles in a wide variety of theatre productions. Das has completed a workshop with the Moscow Arts Theatre at Harvard University in Boston, where he performed in Chekhovian plays.
In May 2002, Vir was let loose on the main stage with ‘Brown Men Can’t Hump!’ a two-hour stand up comedy special for a crowd of 500.
At present he is an active part of the Chicago theatre scene and a member of Roadworks Productions. He currently works for several comedy clubs all over the US and regularly performs on the ‘Music Masala Cruise’.
Commenting on his recent performance in the subcontinent, one critic goes to the extent of saying, “You’ll love him, even envy his élan and felicity with words and you might even learn to laugh at yourself with him. Ignore him at your own risk!”
Tickets are available at the Hyatt Regency Kathmandu. Single: Rs 1,500, couple: Rs 2,500. The price includes unlimited humour, dinner and drinks. Pick your colours: White/ Silver or black. The show starts at at the Regency Ballroom from 7 pm.
