Representatives of various Nepali non-governmental organisations presented their reports on various issues of Nepali women before the the 30th Convention on the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) session that began at the United Nations, New York, yesterday.

Special presentations were made on issues related to discriminatory laws, citizenship, single women and economic and cultural aspects. 'The committee members raised questions regarding specific legislation in support of single women, the role of judiciary, discriminatory laws and the collaboration between non-governmental organisations and the Nepali government,' a release issued here today said.

On behalf of the non-governmental organisations, the presentations were made by advocate Sapana Pradhan Malla, Dr Chandra Bhadra, Tulasa Lata Amatya, Lily Thapa and Anjana Shakya.

The release further says that the committee members commended the role of non-governmental organisations in accelerating the implementation of CEDAW in Nepal.
