6 teachers injured in YCL attack

PHIDIM: Six teachers were injured when UCPN-Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League cadres thrashed them in Panchthar district today. Cadres led by YCL chairman of Phalaicha VDC Dhan Bahadur Nepali attacked teachers of Buddha Secondary School in the VDC. Headmaster Bishnu Nepal and teachers Tek Bahadur Magar, Rajan Bhattarai and Mukti Adhikari are among the injured. The cadres attacked the teachers for their punishing students two days back, Panchthar District Police Office said. Some students were punished on the charge of their flouting the code of conduct. Khagendra, brother of YCL cadre Dipak Baniya, was also one of the punished students. The injured teachers returned home after treatment in the local health post. Police has arrested Dhan Bahadur Nepali, Dipak Baniya, Chandra Baniya, Naresh Mangmu and Khagenrda Baniya on the charge of beating the teachers.
