Diarrhoea toll reaches 38

DAILEKH: Two more persons died of diarrhoea in Dailekh district today. Pansara Bista, 59, a resident of Paduka-5, and Harka Bahadur Thapa, a resident of Badalamji-1, died of the disease, Dr Gunaraj Awasthi of Dailekh District Hospital said. Thapa died in the course of treatment in Badalamji Sub-Health Post while Bista died at her house, Awasthi said. With this, toll has reached 38 in the district. A report from Sarlahi said a child died of diarrhoea in Atrauli VDC-3 in the district. More than 40 persons are suffering from the outbreak, Krishna Ghising, health worker at Atrauli Health Centre, said. The deceased has been identified as Lali Pakhrin. Health workers said treatment efforts had been hit due to the absence of DHO chief Dr Murari Prasad Upadhyay and senior health officer Arun Kumar Jha. The disease is said to have spread in the village due to poor sanitation and unhygienic food.
