BIRATNAGAR: CPN-UML leader and the erstwhile deputy prime minister Bamdev Gautam today said that the drafting the constitution could prove a Herculean challenge and could be missed out without the Maoists joining the government. Gautam was talking to mediapersons in Biratnagar airport, on Saturday. 'Its like day-dreaming to think of writing the constitution without the Maoists backing us,' he said, adding, 'It's impossible to sideline them at this juncture.' Blaming the government of not being serious enough in drafting the constitution, Gautam said, 'Those who are delaying it must take the responsibility of the fallout.' Gautam said that there was no alternative to forming national government without the major parties — NC, UML and UCPN-M — teaming-up. 'The major three can collectively prevent any accident from happening.' 'The proposal tabled by the Maoists in the parliament should be discussed seriously,' the former deputy PM, said.
