KATHMANDU: The opening day of the Inter-children’s Home U-14 Chess Tournament saw eight players tied for the lead with two points each here today. Among the players winning two matches were Bijay Lama and Raj Kumar Lama of Concern Nepal, Sudip Diwas, Surendra Diwas and Sagar Diwas of Buddhist Child Home, Tilak Khadka and Prem Shahi of OCCED Nepal, and Susan Bahadur Nepali of Paropakar. A total of 36 children including three girls from 15 Children’s Home are competing for the championship. Top five players will receive Rs 2,500, Rs 2,000, Rs 1,500, Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 respectively. Top 10 players of the tournament will also earn automatic qualification for the U-14 National Chess Tournament.
