BHAKTA PUR:Laxmi Prasad Poudel of Bhaktapur and Rajendra Shrestha of Jumla set title clash in the U-17 National Youth Boxing Championships here at the Shahid Smriti Khel Maidan today. In the men’s 48kg semi-final bouts, Poudel beat local boxer Sanjay Prajapati and Shrestha dispatched Prakash Thokar of Makwanpur. Entering the final in the men’s 51kg category were Bikram Pariyar of Naxal Yuva Mandal and Rahul Pradhan of Ilam. Pariyar saw off Gopal Basnet of Jhapa and Pradhan defeated Jit Man Budha of Salyan in the semi-finals. Narendra Deshar of Nepal Youth Boxing Club (NYBC) set championship date with Dhirendra Chand of Kanchanpur in the men’s 54kg category. Deshar eliminated Bal Narsingha Kunwar of Kapilvastu and Chand overcame Tilak Rewale of Dang in the semi-finals. In the men’s 57kg semi-final bouts, Yogesh Gurung of Dhading ousted Bharat Pariyar of Rolpa and Jayaram Kharbujja of Bhaktapur defeated Jitendra Rawal of Jumla. Entering the final in the 60kg category were Dipendra Shrestha of Makwanpur and Umesh Rijal of Tikathali. Dipendra beat Sanjay Lama of Salyan and Umesh saw off Shiva Narayan Lohala. Likewise, Rohan Pradhan of Ilam beat Rajan Lama of Lalitpur and Sajan Shahi Thakuri of Hetauda Boxing Club dispatched Suresh Bohara of Kailali in the 64kg semi-final bouts. Also through to the final in the 69kg category were Mohan Khadka of Rolpa and Prabin Bali of Salyan. Khadka beat Unesh Nagarkoti of Meghdoot and Bali defeated Raju Poudel of NYBC.
