ABHUKHAIRENI:Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club knocked out Nepal Police Club (NPC) from the quarter-finals of the Inter-club National Football Tournament here today. In the battle of the departmental teams, Nepal APF Club ousted NPC 2-1 in a competitive match held at the Gorakhkali Rubber Industries’ grounds. Ganesh Lawati put APF ahead early in the ninth minute before NPC bounced back 10 minutes later. Chetan Ghimire scored the equaliser extending the match to extra time. Both the teams created quite a few scoring opportunities in the second half but were unable to find the back of the net, meaning 20 more minutes were added to break the deadlock. Just when it appeared that the match was heading for a penalty shootout, Suraj BK conceded an own goal to send the APF into the semi-finals. Dhanbir Chaudhary of APF was adjudged the man of the match. In the first semi-final Tribhuvan Army Club will take on Himalayan Sherpa Club on Thursday.
