Kathmandu, April 4:

The Special Court today slapped a jail term of one year and a fine of Rs 2.5 million on the undersecretary of the Customs Department, Keshar Jung Khadka.

The court move came in response to a corruption case filed by CIAA three years ago. The three-member bench of judges Govinda Prasad Parajuli, Rana Bahadur Bam and Bhoopdhoj Adhikary also ordered the confiscation of property worth Rs 9.5 million, which Khadka had illegally amassed while he was the chief customs officer at Mechi Customs.
