Firecrackers haul KATHMANDU: Metropolitan Police Range Thankot confiscated 350 kilograms of firecrackers from three trucks that were being brought in to the valley from Sarlahi and Janakpur, on Friday morning. Likewise, the Thankot police also seized five cartons of firecrackers from a bus coming to Kathmandu from Birgunj. — HNS One held for stabbing KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Govinda Dhungel, 25, of Koteshwor, on the charge of stabbing. Police said a group of unidentified persons had stabbed Dhungel on Friday. Dhungel is undergoing treatment at Neuro Hospital in Bansbari. — HNS Body found KATHMANDU: Police found a body of a woman of her forties from the Old Bus Park on Friday. Necessary investigation into the case is already underway, claimed the police.— HNS Woman burnt LALITPUR: Sita Basnet, 75, a temporary resident of Mangal Bazaar in Lalitpur burnt herself while trying to light a kerosene lamp on Thursday. The DPM in a statement, also wished for the speedy recovery of all those injured in the tragedy and also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls. — RSS Minister injured KATHMANDU: Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports, Chanda Chaudhary, sustained injuries in a jeep accident on Friday. The jeep, in which she was travelling, hit a parked tractor at Ramgopalpur in Mahottari district, police said. She was heading towards Jaleshwar from Sarlahi. — RSS Surprise check at NEA KATHMANDU: State Minister for Energy Chandra Singh Bhattarai conducted a surprise inspection at the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Dailekh, on Friday. During the inspection, Bhattarai found acting chief of the office, Ani Rudra Prasad Singh, and accountant Buddha Raj Regmi, being absent in the office. The minister marked the attendance register of both the employees. Singh and Regmi were found absent in the office since September 24 and 23 respectively. When approached, both of them did not receive phones. — RSS
