The credit of my success goes to my wife Liza. She loved me when I was no one. After she came into my life, everything changed. She is the luckiest star for me,” reveals rising star Sugam Pokhrel. Sugam started his music career with the album 1MB.

They got married on July 4, 2003. It was a love marriage. Four years back on May 22, Sugam had proposed to her but the story goes back nearly two years before that. The time when they used to talk on phone… everyday. This continued for nearly one and a half years.

Their love story started not after seeing or meeting each other. Liza was a student at Padma Kanya Campus and Sugam at Ratna Rajya Campus. Both of them had common friends but they didn’t know each other. Once Liza noticed his name in a friend’s diary. “I liked his name. So I called him and he spoke nicely.”

That was the beginning and it continued. “I never gave him my residence number because that was forbidden in my house. But after one and a half years for the first time he called me because I had stopped calling him for two days due to some misunderstanding,” reveals Liza today.

Sugam was used to their daily phone chats and never read much into it, till the day the calls stopped coming. He realised that he was in love with the girl at the end of the line, and decided to tell her about it.

He shares, “I was 99 per cent sure that she is going to say no if I proposed to her. I called her so many times but either her mom or father answered the phone. I thought she was ignoring me. Finally in the last try she answered my call. I told her ‘I love you’ and she laughed. She didn’t believe me! I even told her to take her time and give an answer.”

He didn’t have to wait for years or months or even days to get her answer. The next day she returned the call. “When I heard her voice I knew that she loves me,” reveals Sugam.

After this they went on a date for the first time and both were extremely nervous on that first day. “We were friends earlier so we used to talk easily but after the affair started, the first day was a bit odd,” the couple share.

They had not seen or met each other often before that. “She used to call me to her college and I used to go with my friends but we didn’t even exchange greetings.” Liza reasons, “He always used to bring his friends along with him.”

In the evenings she used to call him and ask who he was in the group and he used to describe himself “the guy who was black, ring in his ears, wearing canvas.”

After some years, both of them told their parents about their mutual love and luckily for them, they did not object. Sugam informs, “I was a bit nervous on our wedding day. Many people were commenting that both of us were marrying early and I was so shy. When I saw her in that red saree, I was amazed.”

On the other hand Liza thought she was dreaming. “After I was taken to his place I realised that it was not a dream,” Liza jovially announces, adding, “he is a perfectionist but stubborn. He is very caring and I don’t get insecure regarding his stardom.”

Sugam had never thought that one fine day Liza will be his wife and she will care so much for him. He judges her as a perfect housewife. “Earlier, I used to help her out in the kitchen but nowadays after seeing her I don’t feel like working. I don’t have any tension at my house. She handles everything. I had never thought that she could do all this. In this world I think she is the only one who tries to understand me but she is stubborn,” informs Sugam.

The happy couple are planning to have a baby very soon as Sugam declares, “I want to be a father.”
