KATHMANDU: Struggle committee, formed by last year’s Saptakoshi flood and erosion victims has demanded compensation from the Government without further delay, stated a press statement, today. The committee has demanded for free health services for the victims and free education to their children. Opportunity for employment and packages of development were among the other demands. Meanwhile the committee also informed that they would submit a memorandum to the authorities, soon. Furthermore, their demands being not met on time, they have also warned of indefinite transport halt (chhakajam) along the East-West highway from November 20. A sit-in- protest programme at the District Administration Office and the District Development Committee, Sunsari on 6th of November has also been announced. “We will also obstruct works related to Koshi river project from November 2. Works at Chataramul canal will be obstructed later,” the release added.
