KAVRE: CPN-UML general secretary Ishwor Pokharel today blamed the Unified CPN-Maoist of not keeping its words. Pokharel at an unveiling ceremony of Yugbahak, a mouthpiece published by the district chapter of Democratic National Youth Association Banepa, said, "The Maoists maintain double standards one in the public and other in the meetings with parties. Maoist chairman 'Prachanda' had said that there will be political agreement even in his absence, however, it was a false talk.” “The Maoists have kept us confused and drafting of the constitution was doubtful,” he added. He blamed that the Maoists were impeding politics of agreement by raising the issue of civilian supremacy. “Despite the fact that the house is being stalled, there is no alternative to the politics of agreement," he said. Meanwhile, he clarified the party's stance on civilian supremacy. “The constitution and code of conduct is civilians' supremacy for CPN-UML,” Pokharel said. “The peace process can be taken to a logical conclusion if the parties move ahead on the basis of new polarisation,” he added. He, however, stressed that integration of the Maoist combatants was pertinent to that end. Similarly, Pokharel urged the youths to fight against those who try to disrupt the constitution draft process. He also assured that drafting the constitution in time was the prime concern of the UML led government.
