KATHMANDU: Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has directed top bureaucrats to maintain good governance. Holding a discussion with government secretaries, the CIAA directed them to maintain good governance in their departments. Home Secretary Dr Govinda Kusum, Labour Secretary Baburam Acharya, Local Development Secretary Krishna Gyawali, Land Revenue Secretary Chhabi Raj Panta, Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur and Kavre districts and chiefs of Land Revenue, Land Reforms and Survey Offices attended the discussion. The CIAA asked them to abide by its 5-point directive issued some months back. The directive includes setting up good governance units, making services accessible to common people, implementing electronic tender and protecting public land. “They assured us of following the directives,” said Lalit Bahadur Limbu, Acting Chief Commissioner, CIAA. The Secretaries and the Chiefs feigned ignorance.
