Adieu to SSP Silwal KATHMANDU: A farewell programme was organised on Thursday for the outgoing SSP Nawa Raj Silwal, who led Metropolitan Police Range (MPR) at Hanumandhoka for over a period of one year. On the occasion, Silwal was praised for his role in netting dozens of dreaded criminal and restoring virtual peace in the Kathmandu Valley. Silwal was promoted to SSP from SP in recognition of his work performance. He was appointed in-charge of MPR on 12 November 2008. SSP Silwal will now serve at the Nepal Police Headquarters. KP Oli India-bound KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli left for India for regular health check up on Thursday. During his stay in New Delhi, Oli is also scheduled to meet some Indian leaders. Talking to media at Tribhuvan International Airport, Oli said that the present government would not topple as claimed by UCPN-Maoist chairman Prachanda. “This government will last till the new statute is drafted.” He also claimed that an agreement was reached between NC and Maoists about ending the deadlock during the dinner party hosted by him a few days ago.
