KATHMANDU: Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) is all set to launch an anti-gender-violence campaign to give justice to Suntali Dhami, a policewoman who was raped by her co-workers in Achham two months ago. The decision was announced today at a press conference held here. The campaign will kick off from tomorrow. WOREC representatives said the campaign was essential since the government had failed to deliver justice to the victim - Dhami. The Centre is organising interaction programmes and awareness campaigns as part of their campaigns from November 26 to December 12. Dr Renu Raj Bhandari, president of WOREC and the coordinator of the National Alliance of Women Human Rights Defenders, urged the government to take women agendas seriously. She said, “Violence against women is unstoppable unless the government acts on.” The campaign slated to begin tomorrow coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, she added.
