BIRATNAGAR: Tension has mounted in Morang Jail due to the failure in settling conflict between two groups of inmates. The situation has worsened since prisoners clash at times in the jail. Jailer Khagendra Giri said the inmates had been infuriated by the plan to transfer five of them, including Naike (the leader) Madhusudan Manandhar from the jail. Agitating inmates hurled stones and chanted slogans against the jail administration today. Manandhar and Bikesh Chaudhari were taken to District Police Office Morang this morning prior to their transfer to another prison. Human rights activists, media persons and security personnel, who reached the jail to help out, were not allowed in. Police personnel have also not been able to enter the jail due to the inmates' agitation. The dispute ensued when Manandhar's group thrashed Abhisek Giri's team a few days ago. Giri is undergoing treatment at Koshi Zonal Hospital.
