GAIGHAT: Senior leader of UCPN-Maoist, CP Gajurel claimed that their third phase of protest programme is targeted to help the constitution drafting process. Terming the protest programme of the party as a right step, he said, “We can guarantee the new constitution and take the peace process to the logical end through this movement.'' He also accused the Nepali Congress of trying to dissolve the CA as they fear that the statue would be drafted in favour of the Maoists. “We will not let anyone dissolve the CA,” he said. Answering a query of the journalist he said, "Our party has started the movement to draft the statue but not to join the government.'' Though rival parties have been criticising his party's decision of declaring federal states, Gajurel said, “Declaration of federal state would not create any conflict in the country.'' However, he maintained that the party had taken action against Gopal Kiranti, who had declared Kirant state earlier. “We have decided to declare federal states to protect the rights of the marginalised groups,'' he said. Moreover, federalism had been overshadowed in the country, he added.
