KATHMANDU: A team of Nepali Congress (NC) leaders led by General Secretary KB Gurung today called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and drew the latter's attention towards the possible political turmoil that might arise due to widening rift among the political parties.

During the meeting, the leaders requested the President to caution leaders and political parties about the untoward situation if the constitution was not drafted on time.

"The constitution must be promulgated on stipulated time. It’s not good to push the issue into emergency period," said NC central committee member Govinda Raj Joshi.

NC chief whip Laxman Ghimire and central members Binaya Dhoj Chand and Shyam Lal Shrestha, among others, comprised the team. The President said that he was serious about the issue and would try his best to help promulgate the constitution on time.
