Nepal out of SAFF Champ’ship

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s prospect of securing a berth in the semi-finals in the ongoing sixth South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) tournament has come to a disappointing end, with the defending champion Maldives edged India with 2-0 win in the game held in Dhaka on Wednesday. In earlier match held today at the Bangabadhu Staium in Dhaka, Nepal had registered 3-0 win against Afghanistan in its third group match. Though the first half of the match between Nepal and Afghanistan ended with the goalless draw, Nepal took the lead with the goal from Anil Gurung in the 57th minutes. It was Gurung's first international goal. Anil was followed by Bijay Gurung who scored second goal for Nepal in the 62nd minutes. The game ended 3-0 with the third goal from Anil Gurung in the 73rd minutes. Anil Gurung scored two goals in the today’s match.
