70 transitional homes handed over to locals

KATHMANDU, June 29

Chaudhary Foundation — a charitable organisation established by the Chaudhary Group — handed over 70 transitional homes to the locals of Machhegaun, Chandragiri Municipality, today. Its President Binod Chaudhary handed over the houses to the locals who lost their homes during the devastating earthquake.

It is said that construction cost of each house is about Rs 70,000 and they were built over a period of 25 days.

Chaudhary Foundation has built these houses under its charity programme of building 1,000 transitional homes and 100 community schools at the total cost of Rs 250 million. Chaudhary Foundation has already signed a memorandum of understanding with Ministry of Education to build 100 schools, Chaudhary informed.

Chaudhary Foundation has been constructing such transitional houses in worst-affected districts — Gorkha, Dhading, Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur.

Chaudhary Foundation further informed that construction of 14 transitional houses in Lalitpur, Bhaktapur (60), Kavre (114), Gorkha (92), Dhading (229) and Sindhupalchok (158) will be started very soon.
