Controversial figure

KATHMANDU: Since his appointment to the top post of NOC in January 2015, Gopal Bahadur Khadka has been involved in several controversies.

Prior to this, Khadka was also accused of awarding petroleum supply licence to a controversial private company — Birat Petroleum — while the country was witnessing acute fuel shortage following border obstructions. He was also accused of arbitrarily distributing licences to open fuel stations across the country.

However, the then MoS leadership had been unable to take action against Khadka as the latter is a political appointee. Khadka was not available for comments despite repeated attempts by THT to contact him on his mobile phone.
