Dangote plans to build cement factory in Nepal
KATHMANDU: Dangote Nepal Group, an associate of the Dangote Group of Nigeria, on Wednesday, announced its plans to establish the largest cement company in the country — Dangote Nepal Pvt Ltd — with its factory in Hetauda. It also has plans to build a second cement plant in Dhading.
As per the company, Dangote Cement Factory in Hetauda will be the largest in Nepal, with a daily capacity of 6,000 metric tonnes. The Dangote Group has planned to invest Rs 55 billion in the first phase of its investment plan.
As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR), the Dangote Group through its CSR wing — Dangote Foundation — also donated $1 million to the government of Nepal. Zouera Youssoufou, managing director and CEO of the Foundation, presented a cheque of the said amount to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala at Prime Minister’s Office today.
Youssoufou stated that the donation is to support the government’s emergency efforts in providing relief to the earthquake victims of the country. Chairman of Dangote Foundation, Aliko Dangote in his message to the Prime Minister, conveyed his sympathy to the government and people of Nepal, assuring of the Foundation’s support in rehabilitating the victims of the unprecedented tragedy.
Prime Minister Koirala expressed gratitude to Aliko Dangote and the Foundation for their humanitarian support.
