Minister Thapa seeks Chinese help for post-quake reconstruction work
KATHMANDU: Minister for Commerce and Supplies Sunil Bahadur Thapa has sought Chinese cooperation for the reconstruction of the structures damaged in the devastating earthquake of April 25.
During his visit, Thapa met Vice President of China Li Yuan Chao and sought support from government of China for reconstruction of damaged properties.
In the meeting with Vice President Li, Minister Thapa informed him about the donors’ conference that Nepal is going to organise, in Kathmandu, on June 25, to generate resources for the reconstruction works and rehabilitation of displaced families. The recent Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) report has estimated it requires $6.6 billion in aid to rebuild the country.
Minister Thapa left for China on Friday, to address inaugural session of the China-South Asia Exposition that is being organised in Kunming of Yunnan Province of China. Minister Thapa also met with Gao Shu Xun, vice governor of Yunnan Province.
