NIBL pledges Rs 10 mln for reconstruction of quake-hit temples

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL) has announced to provide Rs 10 million for the reconstruction of two quake-damaged temples in Hanumandhoka of Kathmandu.

NIBL Chief Executive Officer Prithivi Bahadur Pande made this announcement amid a programme organised by UNESCO here today.

Gopinath and Jagganath temples in Hanumandhoka had sustained damages during the Gorkha Earthquake that hit the country on April 25, 2015.

The reconstruction of these historic sites was underway with the financial and technical assistances from UNESCO.

On the occasion, Japanese Ambassador to Nepal Masashi Ogawa pledged further assistance to Nepal for the reconstruction of other quake-damaged monuments of historical significance.

Similarly, Chief Archaeological Officer at the Department of Archaeology, Suresh Shrestha, shared about the undertakings of the Department to rebuild the quake-damaged historic structures.
