Traders can finally use Vizag Port
Kathmandu, October 26
Traders henceforth can use the Visakhapatnam (Vizag) Port — another gateway port provided by India for Nepal’s third-country trade — as Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has allowed banks to issue letter of credit to import goods via Vizag Port.
Issuing a circular today, the central regulatory and monetary authority has permitted traders to bring goods into the country imported from third countries via Vizag Port through five customs point — Birgunj Customs Office, Birgunj Dry Port Customs, Biratnagar Customs, Bhairahawa Customs and Nepalgunj Customs.
Traders can also use two additional customs points, namely Dhangadhi Customs and Mechi Customs, while importing goods from third country via Kolkata/Haldia Port.
Vizag Port was opened for Nepali traders from June-end of this year.
