UCPN-M Vice-Chair takes initiatives to import fuel from China

KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha has begun discussions with stakeholders regarding possibilities of importing petroleum products from China.

Shrestha began discussions at a time when the nation is reeling under the acute shortage of fuel for last one month owing to obstructions at Indo-Nepal border points.

The former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs on Friday held meetings with Minister for Commerce and Supplies Ganesh Man Pun, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai and Nepali Ambassador to China Mahesh Kumar Maskey, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported.

Talks were held regarding supply of essentials including medicines and fuel among other bilateral concerns, Shrestha's aide Susan Karmacharya told the RSS.

Karmacharya claimed that Shrestha and Pun have informed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli about the discussions.
