Gearing up for Jazzmandu

KATHMANDU: The 14th edition of Kathmandu Jazz Festival is here. Surya Nepal Jazzmandu 2016 will be held from October 20 to 26. This year 21 international artistes from all over the world will be participating in the festival.

According to jazzmandu.org, the line-up for this year’s festival include Rocket Men (Germany), AfuriKo (France/Japan), Mn’JAM Experiment (The Netherlands), Ange Takats (Australia), Lyrics Born (USA), Janysett McPherson (Cuba/France) along with Cadenza Collective, KJC and Nepal Army Jazz Orchestra, Rabin Lal Shrestha Ensemble, Umesh Pandit, Manmohan Thapaliya and Gandharvas from Nepal.

Musical fusion of intergalactic jazz, drum and space, blend of culture, musical styles, and skill, music that is raw, fresh, unconventional, Latin American sounds, Nepali funky jazz, Nepali eastern classical and folk music will resound at the festival.

The seven-day-long festival will cater jazz music to music enthusiasts in different venues around town.

The essence of Jazzmandu — master classes and workshops, Valley Jams, Jazz Bazaar at Gokarna along with new music are the major attractions of the festival this year.
