Purpose sees Bieber beat 1D for top spot

LOS ANGELES: Justin Bieber and One Direction released their albums on same day and the pop star has raised the winning flag by acquiring this weeks No 1 album slot.

Purpose sold 649,000 album equivalents in its first week out, via Billboard, marking Bieber’s sixth No 1 on the Billboard 200 and the biggest sales week of 2015 so far, reported ET online.

One Direction came in at No 2 on the chart this week with 459,000 units of Made in the AM sold.

“I felt like I lost my purpose for a while. I just said, ‘What am I going through? What am I feeling?’ and basically just poured my heart out into this album and made something real,” Bieber, 21, had said about his album.
