19 districts fail to submit proposals to LBRC within deadline

Kathmandu, November 12

As many as 19 districts have yet to submit their proposals to the Local Bodies’ Restructuring Commission on the delineation of village councils, municipalities, special protected zones and autonomous areas although the deadline for report submission is over.

Commission Chair Balananda Poudel said they had sent the new working procedure to all districts on October 21 to delineate local units by considering Ilakas (areas) as basis by November 5. The Commission has so far received restructuring reports from 56 districts and is waiting for more districts to send the reports.

The Commission has since received reports from all districts in Province No 1 and eight districts in Province No 2, according to Poudel. Similarly, Sindhuli in Province No 3 and Lamjung, Parbat, Syangja, Baglung, Manang and Nawalparashi in Province No 4 have yet to send the reports, shared Section Officer at the Commission Durga Prasad Chalise.

Likewise, of all 10 districts in Province No 5, nine districts have sent their reports, except Rupandehi. In Province No 6, Salyan, Kalikot and Rukum have yet to submit their reports while all 10 districts in Province No 7 have sent their reports, said Chalise.
