25 bodies identified after post-mortem

Kathmandu, March 17

Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital has identified 25 bodies of the passengers killed in the US-Bangla plane crash following post-mortem. Of the identified bodies, 10 are of Nepali nationals, one Chinese and 13 Bangladeshis.

According to Dr Pramod Shrestha, head of Forensic Department at TUTH, post-mortem of 41 bodies has already been completed, but only 25 had been identified. He said family members could receive the bodies of Nepali nationals in presence of police.

The bodies of Nepali nationals identified so far are of Shila Bajgain, Prasanna Pandey, Algina Baral, Bal Krishna Thapa, Hari Shankar Poudel, Prabin Chitrakar, Sanjay Maharjan, Gyani Kumari Gurung, Meeli Maharjan and Pranima Lohani.

The bodies of Bangladeshi nationals Zaman Aniruddha, Tahira Tanvin Shashi Reza, Meenhaz Bin Nasir, Md Rokibul Hassan, Zaman Md RafiqUz, MST Akhtara Begum, Md Hasan Imam, Tamarra Prionmoyee, SM Mahmudur Rahman, Bilkish Ara, including crew member Abid Sultan, Prithula Rashid and Khwaja Saifulla, and Chinese national Zhang Ming have also been identified.

The bodies of Bangladeshi nationals have been handed over to the Bangladeshi Embassy in Kathmandu. The expenses of flying the bodies to Bangladesh will be borne by the airlines.

According to sub-inspector Bijaya Bhandari, eight bodies of Nepalis have already been handed over to families.
