Activists seeking justice for Ganga Maya detained

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested as many as 11 human rights activists who were on a sit-in protest demanding that the government take initiatives to save the life of Ganga Maya Adhikari.

Ganga Maya Adhikari is on a fast-unto-death for the past six years demanding justice for her son, by refusing to take even water and saline.

Activists including Charan Prasai, Indra Aryal, Suman Adhikari, Krishna Aryal and Shova Maharjan among others were arrested from outside the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar today claiming they had protested in the restricted area.

Aryal, however, said that they had not staged the protest in restricted areas and it was a peaceful protest.

Meanwhile, the human rights activists have started a campaign '#SaveGangaMaya' from Sunday.
