After Tihar vacation, ruling parties gear up for 'meaningful talks' with agitators

KATHMANDU: With the conclusion of five-day Tihar festival, the ruling coalition has expedited efforts to address demands of agitating Madhesi parties through talks.

The High Level Political Coordination Committee, consisting of top leaders of ruling parties, held a meeting this evening at the Prime Minister's residence and decided to make the next rounds of talks meaningful.

The HLPCC meeting assigned its coordinator and UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and government talks team coordinator and Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa for work in that end, the Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported.

"The meeting discussed how to make the talks a success," the RSS quoted UCPN-Maoist Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha as saying, "DPM Thapa and Chairman Dahal were entrusted with consulting the Prime Minister and the main opposition Nepali Congress as needed and concluding the talks with the Madhesi Front."
