Annapurna Post office vandalised

Kathmandu, August 20

An unidentified group vandalised the Corporate Tower, the office of Annapurna Post, at Tinkune yesterday night.

The gang pelted stones at the office building and shattered window panes.

According to Annapurna Post, a group of four to five persons pelted stones at the office and fled the scene at around 9:30pm.

DSP Dan Bahadur Karki, in-charge of Metropolitan Police Range, Baneshwor, confirmed the vandalism and said police were after the suspects. However, no one was hurt in the attack. Police personnel have been deployed on the premises of Annapurna Post to prevent any untoward incident after it received threat of more attacks from unidentified groups. Issuing a press release, Nepal Press Union condemned the attack on the media house and termed it a ploy to intimidate independent media houses and journalists from exercising their communication rights. NPU has demanded that the government bring the guilty to book and provide security to media houses and journalists.
