Army Day observed in Tundikhel

KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari today attended a special function at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, organised by the Nepal Army to mark the Nepal Army Day coinciding with the Mahashivaratri.

On the occasion, President Bhandari garlanded the 'Brave Soldier' monument at Tudinkhel and received the guard of honours. President Bhandari is the Supreme Commander of the NA.

The annual Free-Fall Jump Show was also organised on the occasion.

President Bhandari awarded prizes to the winners of Free-Fall Jump Show.

On the occasion, a banner was displayed from a helicopter and the NA presented various parades including Nisan, Mahashivaratri Badhain as well as march-past and other various programmes related to the NA.

Similarly, various groups also performed different cultural processions in the event.

The army also exhibited different types of vehicles and arms and ammunition it has been using on the occasion.Also present on the occasion were the Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha, the government ministers, high-ranking government officials along with the chiefs of the security bodies.

A large number of people had flocked around Tundikhel to watch the special programme organised on the occasion of the Mahashivaratri and the Army Day.

The NA has been celebrating the day of Mahashivaratri as the Army Day since 1991 BS.
