UML candidate Shakya continues to lead in KMC

KATHMANDU: Bidya Sundar Shakya of CPN-UML is on the lead in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City mayoral race with 8,761 more votes than that of Raju Raj Joshi of Nepali Congress.

Shakya mustered 29,129 votes against 20,368 votes received by Joshi on Monday morning.

Ranju Darshana of the Bibeksheel Nepali Party is in the third place in the race with total 11,256 votes. Darshana is followed by Kishor Thapa of the Sajha Party with 8,523 votes.

At the same time, Hari Prabha Khadgi of Nepali Congress is in front of the deputy mayoral race.

Khadgi has garnered 26417 votes while her closest rival Raja Ram Shrestha of Rastriya Prajatantra Party is restricted to 16823 votes.

Nirupama Yadav of the Sajha Party has garnered 5,450 votes in the KMC deputy mayoral race.

According to the Office of the Returning Officer in the metropolis, total 88,291 votes have been counted till this morning.
