CA endorses old national flag in new constitution
KATHMANDU: The Constituent Assembly endorsed that the new constitution shall have the flag of crimson colour, with blue border and the white moon in the upper triangle and the sun in the lower triangle as the national flag.
The Article 8 of the final constitution draft has provisions about the national flag.
It says, "The national flag of Nepal consists of two juxtaposed triangular figures with a crimson coloured base and deep blue borders, there being a white emblem of the crescent moon with eight rays visible out of sixteen in the upper part and a white emblem of a twelve rayed sun in the lower part."
The CA had rejected three amendment proposals against it.
Likewise, the CA retained rhododendron as the national flower, cow as the national animal, crimson as the national colour and lophophorus as the national bird.
The CA had rejected various proposals registered against these provisions.
The Article 9 of the constitution draft has provisions about these symbols.
The very Article has defined the national anthem and the coat of arms.
Citizenship-related provisions endorsed
Likewise, the CA endorsed Article 10 of the constitution which mentions that no Nepali citizen shall be barred from citizenship rights.
The constitution-writing body also endorsed Articles 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15, which have provisions about citizenship rights.
