Dharma Bhakta transplant centre gets new equipment

Shahid Dharma Bhakta National Transplant Centre has installed 256 slice CT scan machine and Cath lab in the hospital.

SDBNTC has become the second government hospital to instal 256 slice CT scan machine after Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre.

According to Executive Director of Sahid Dharma Bhakta National Transplant Centre Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha, the 256 slice CT scan machine is a diagnostic imaging equipment that takes pictures of a moving heart using x-rays and displays it in a three-dimensional format on a computer monitor.

The CT scan machine helps experts detect the earliest stages of diseases and prevent them from progressing further. “The machine has been purchased at the cost of Rs 140 million,” he added

Likewise, Cath lab is an examination room with diagnostic imaging equipment used to visualise the arteries of the heart and the chambers of the heart and treat any stenosis or abnormality.

Dr Shrestha said the hospital installed Cath lab at the cost of Rs 80 million to expand liver and kidney transplant services. .

Speaking in the inauguration of CT scan machine and Cath lab here today, Minister of Health and Population Upendra Yadav said the government was planning to set up 1,200 primary health centres throughout the country.

Minister Yadav said people in the rural areas were derived of heath services as doctors were reluctant to go out of cities.

“Eighty per cent doctors live in the cities. This is why it has become a challenging task for the government to send doctors to rural areas,” he said.
