Federal Alliance to hold relay hunger strike for over a month

KATHMANDU: Federal Alliance, an alliance of over two dozen parties protesting the Constitution promulgated last year, unveiled its new protest programmes on Monday.

According to the FA coordinator and Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav, the alliance would hold relay hunger strike from 7 am to 7 pm everyday, from June 7 to July 15, in Kathmandu.

A member from each of the constituents would participate in the protest.

Yadav said various cultural and literary performances would be held during the hunger strike to make the protest more effective.

Similar programmes would be held in other parts of the nation also, according to the Alliance.

Maintaining that the protests would not stop till their demands were met, the Alliance said it would launch other protest programmes later.

One of the major demands of the Alliance is rewriting of the Constitution, promulgated by the Constituent Assembly in September last year.

The bloc, which was focused on the Tarai region for months, had launched the Kathmandu-centric protest in the second week of May.
