Foreign employment fraud held

KATHMANDU: Police arrested a man for his alleged involvement in defrauding a foreign employment aspirant of Rs 325,000 and leaving him stranded in New Delhi.

Gem Prasad Rokka (37) from Darbang-5 of Myagdi district, currently residing in Bauddha of the Capital, was arrested by a team deployed from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division.

Rokka had assured Udaya Bahadur Bhandari from Dhandpani, Thulachaur-3 of Myagdi, that he could find a security guard job for him in Uganda, according to police. Rokkha also told Bhandari that the latter could earn USD 1,200 per month from the job, police added.

The man then asked an unsuspecting Bhandari to pay him Rs 325,000 for the task.

He even took him to the Indian Capital and kept him there for 20 days before running away, police said.

The suspect has been sent to the Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, to carry out further investigations.
