Govt to award best performing employees, former bureaucrats

On the occasion of Civil Service Day, the government today announced the names of 10 bureaucrats for Outstanding Civil Service Award and 30 other government employees for Civil Service Award.

However, no one has been chosen for the Best Outstanding Civil Service Award this year. The award carries a purse of Rs 200,000.

Since the people’s movement of 2006, the government has been honouring bureaucrats with Best Outstanding Civil Service Award, Outstanding Civil Service Award and Civil Service Award, each carrying a purse of Rs 200,000, 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.

Joint-Registrar Bipul Neupane, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Laxmi Prasad Dhakal, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance Baikuntha Aryal, Chief District Officer of Kathmandu Eknarayan Aryal and Senior Divisional Engineer at Regional Drinking Water Monitoring and Supervision Office, Dolpa, Tiresh Prasad Khatri have been chosen for Outstanding Civil Service Award.

Similarly, Shiva Ram Yadav, division head at the Heavy Equipment Division, Keshav Raj Dhakal, under secretary at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Shivasharan Thapa Magar, computer officer at the Election Commission and Poshan Man Shingh Basnet, electrician at the Public Service Commission, have also been selected for the award, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of General Administration.

Director General at the Department of Passport Lok Bahadur Thapa and Senior Rood Researcher Chandra Subba are among the 30 employees selected for the Civil Service Award.

The government has also decided to felicitate 50 retired bureaucrats. They include former government employees, including ex-chief secretary Leela Mani Paudyal and office assistant at Kailali District Administration Office, Hari Bahadur Giri.

According to Baikuntha Aryal, joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance, Minister for General Administration Lal Babu Pandit would soon give away the prizes to the winners amid a special function to be held in the capital.
