Hindu protesters chase Law Minister Acharya away from Tundikhel

KATHMANDU: Hindu protesters chased Law Minister Narahari Acharya away from Tundikhel when he reached there with Prime Minister Sushil Koirala's message, asking the youths on hunger strike to end their fast-unto-death, on Wednesday afternoon.

The protesters, who apparently were expecting the Prime Minister there, started chanting slogans as Minister Acharya read out the Prime Minister's response.

They said that the response was evasive andĀ forced the minister to leave the venue.

Security personnel struggled to escort the minister to his jeep amid the hullabaloo.

Former lawmaker Shankar Prasad Pandey and some volunteers tried to calm the protesters when the latter tried to moved towards the minister aggressively.

After the minister boarded the government jeep, some protesters reportedly pelted stones at it.
